Doogie's
Great Danes is a small breeding kennel located in
beautiful Tempe, Arizona. Doogie and Ginger are
the inspiration for our breeding program and the
inspiration for our love of the Great Dane.
It is because of Doogie and Ginger's wonderful
temperaments and loving nature, that we have decided to
do our part in improving the breed. Our hope is
to spread the love and great joy that the Great
Dane has to offer others.
Consider
adding a Great Dane to your family...
We
believe that owning a Great Dane takes time, love, and
patience. Like any other puppy if not
watched closely, a Great Dane pup can be capable of being destructive.
Especially, during the teething stage. Being an
observant and responsible Great Dane owner is a
must. Great
Dane puppies can also get bursts of energy,
which is normal for puppies of all breeds.
These bursts take your breath away as you watch
them run like speed of lightening, jump, and turn
in mid-air as if they are as light as a feather.
All of this, just to release their penned-up energy.
Great Dane puppy bursts only last about a year and
then they settle in and become a couch potato.
That is, unless you have a toy or leash in your hand.
Great
Danes are very curious dogs and love to be at your
side at all times.
In our
household, Doogie puts his head on our bathroom
sink when I am brushing my teeth and wants me to brush
his. So, I pull out his toothbrush and brush his
teeth and wipe his face with a damp cloth. He
loves it! Yes, it may sound goofy, but this is what
it is like to have a Great Dane in your life.
We do believe, at times, these dogs think that
they are human.
Contrary
to what one may think, Great
Danes do not take any more time than any other
dog. They are just a bit bigger.
You can expect to see a Great Dane sitting on the couch,
like a human. They love to spread out on the bed if
allowed and love to run and play.
Your Great Dane puppy needs to know that they can count on you for their safety
and security. Then
one day when you least expect it, you will notice that
they have taken over the role and are protecting and
making you feel secure.
Nurturing a great pet takes time, but what you get
back is three fold.
